Lilwin’s film ‘A Country Called Ghana’ has been nominated for an award at the 2024 Nollywood Film Festival in Germany, further bolstering entertainment news in Ghana.
Despite facing criticism from Ghanaians regarding Lilwin’s choice of cast for the film and some concerns about the colour tone of certain scenes, the movie appears to have met international standards.
The movie features top actors like Ramsey Nouah, Charles Awurum, Victor Osuagwu (popularly known as Awilo Sharp Sharp), Paa George, and Sweet Mimi, among others.
The movie was a success and premiered at the National Theatre in Accra, with top celebrities and dignitaries in attendance, including the Nigerian actors who were part of the cast.
Unfortunately, the premiere in Kumasi had to be cancelled after Lilwin was involved in a tragic accident that led to the death of a three-year-old boy named Nana Yaw, who has since been laid to rest.
Nollywood Film Festival Germany (NFFG) serves as a valuable platform for African filmmakers to showcase their movies to both Europeans and Nollywood enthusiasts in the Diaspora.
It also serves as an educational tool for African children in the Diaspora to learn about African culture.
The festival culminates with the Nollywood Europe Golden Awards (NEGA Awards), which is a prestigious event honouring outstanding achievements in the Nollywood industry.
NFFG and NEGA Awards, which have been held annually since 2014, provide a unique opportunity to connect with and celebrate Nollywood mega stars and industry stakeholders.
The festival is set to take place on August 3, 2024, at the Purple Cinema in GOETHE University, situated at Mertonstr 26-28, in Frankfurt AM Main, Germany.
