Kumawood star Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has taken legal action against local broadcaster Abrempong TV for allegedly airing his film A Country Called Ghana without his permission.
In a statement issued by his lawyer, Enoch Sebastian Owusu, and shared on Instagram on September 10, 2025, the actor accused the station of copyright infringement and demanded compensation of GH¢1 million.
“We have instructions from our client to demand that you pay an amount of one million Ghana cedis (GH¢1,000,000.00) as compensation for the unauthorised use, broadcast, and infringement of our client’s copyright in the film,” the letter stated.
Beyond financial damages, LilWin is also asking the broadcaster to immediately stop showing the film and to refrain from airing any of his productions in the future without proper authorisation.
The letter further warned that if Abrempong TV fails to comply within 14 days, his legal team will proceed to court.
“Should you fail to comply with the above request within 14 days, we will give our client’s firm instruction to institute legal proceedings against you without further recourse,” the statement concluded.
The lawsuit marks a bold move by LilWin to defend his intellectual property rights as both an actor and producer, and it highlights growing concerns within the local film industry about piracy and unauthorised broadcasts.
