Lilwin has been released on bail of GH₵50,000 with 2 sureties by the Asokore Mampong District Court. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 27, 2024.
The A Country Called Ghana movie producer was taken into custody on Monday, June 3 by the Manhyia Divisional police command following his alleged role in a tragic accident resulting in the death of a 3-year-old child.
The arrest is in connection with a recent accident in which he was driving and tragically caused the death of a three-year-old boy called Richard Nana Yaw Ampomah.
The boy died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on Saturday, May 25, after being involved in an accident at Amakom in Kumasi.
It is reported that Nana Yaw was seated in the front passenger seat of his father’s vehicle when it collided with Lilwin’s branded Mercedes Benz. Eyewitnesses claim that the actor was driving at a high speed at the time of the collision.
The family of the deceased has been demanding justice, leading to intensified efforts by the police.
Despite the delay in his arrest due to his health condition, a police vehicle was stationed at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to take him into custody immediately after his discharge.
As investigations into the incident are ongoing, Lilwin was transferred to the Manhyia Divisional Police Command of the MTTD before he was sent to court.
