Kwaku Manu and Lilwin engaged in a heated debate during a radio interview regarding their respective divorces.
Lilwin and Kwaku Manu, who have been long-time friends and colleagues in the industry, found themselves arguing relentlessly about who ended their marriage first and how it negatively impacted the other.
The exchange between them was light-hearted and amicable, with both individuals presenting “facts and figures” to establish their claim to the title.
Kwaku Manu pointed out that his divorce had occurred recently while reminding Lilwin that he had set the unfortunate record over five years ago.
However, after a series of exchanges, Lilwin eventually conceded that he was indeed the one who divorced first. This admission brought laughter not only from Kwaku Manu but also from the host of the interview.
Kwaku Manu disclosed details about his divorce in 2023, candidly admitting that he shared the genuine reasons behind his decision to separate from the media.
“When I separated from my wife, I was the one who called the media to do an article on it. I didn’t do this for myself, but then I did it for my ex-wife.
“The woman is also in the US, and since I divorced, I have not gone for any interviews because I know they will ask me about it,” Manu revealed to YouTuber, Hello Frank.
Expressing his deep respect and regard for his former spouse, the actor emphasized that his ex-wife is a human being with feelings and made it clear that he held her in high esteem.
He further added, “If someone stands outside to insult her, I will be hurt because she is my children’s mother.”
Lilwin, however, ended his marriage with Patricia Afriyie a couple of years ago, justifying a 2022 interview where he expressed that marriage should not be perceived as an all-or-nothing commitment.
“You start with someone and the person gives up at a point. You cannot force that person to continue. A lot of wealthier men have even left their wives,” he added.
Addressing reports that he ditched his wife after several years of struggling together, he explained that “it is normal talk. People say that all the time and there is some sense of entitlement because she has kids with you. I find it normal.
She once fed me, gave me kids and washed my clothes so it’s okay. Although I built my wealth alone without any contributions from her but it’s okay for her to say that”.
