Actor and politician John Dumelo has weighed in on the ongoing National Cathedral controversy, offering a practical solution in a Facebook post.
He noted that the land, approximately 9 acres, could be repurposed for urban farming during the dry season.
“I can see some dam there too. Can the authorities please lease the land to me to do dry-season urban farming? I can set up the irrigation system within 3 days, and we can harvest tomatoes by Jan 7, 2025. Farmers hate wastage,” Dumelo proposed.
His remarks follow an incident where NDC demonstrators participating in the Enough is Enough protest waded through a pool of water that had gathered at the halted construction site of the National Cathedral.
This protest was part of a larger nationwide event that took place on Tuesday, September 17, involving thousands of supporters and sympathizers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The objective of the demonstration was to urge the Electoral Commission (EC) to address concerns regarding alleged irregularities in the 2024 voter register.
NDC leaders have demanded an independent audit of the register, citing discrepancies that they believe could undermine the integrity of the forthcoming general elections.
