The First Deputy Minority Whip, Habib Iddrisu, has urged actor-turned-politician John Dumelo to take his new role as Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture seriously, emphasizing the need for dedication and teamwork in government.

Iddrisu gave this advice while speaking before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Tuesday, February 2, where Dumelo appeared for his vetting as the Deputy Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture.

“If you go to the Ministry, try to assist your Minister. The Ministry is huge, and you should not try to jump the gun,” Iddrisu cautioned, highlighting the complexity of the agricultural sector and the importance of collaboration.

He further advised Dumelo to detach himself from his background in the entertainment industry and fully immerse himself in his new responsibilities.

“And also note that when you go to the Ministry, you are not in your movie industry as you are. Try to be as serious as you can so that you can be able to assist your Minister to succeed,” Iddrisu stated.

With agriculture being a key pillar of Ghana’s economy, Dumelo’s ability to contribute effectively will be closely watched.
