Amid the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death and how Naira Marley’s name has been littered all over it, a throwback video of the Marlian president professing his admiration for Lasmid and offering to sign him has been shared online.
During a media tour in Ghana last year, Naira Marley, whose real name is Azeez Fashola, told Andy Dosty of Hitz FM that he wanted to sign the Ghanaian rapper and singer. The owner and frontman of Marlian Music, who has a long list of notable signees like the amazing Zinoleesky, Lyta, the late Mohbad, C-Black, and Emo Grae, wanted to add a Ghanaian flavour to the mix.
Meanwhile, a petition to ban Marlian Music, owned by Naira Marley, has received over 50,000 signatures. This is because people believe Marlian Music is a drug syndicate disguised as a record label.
Following the passing of Marlian Music performer Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, well known as Mohbad, the petition was started on change.org.
The signee said that his previous employer, Naira Marley and some of his faithful boys had threatened his life months before his untimely death. Even though the police claim to be looking into the rapper’s death, incensed followers have started an online petition.
Alongside some uploaded pictures of Naira Marley with his artistes, the campaigners stated that “it could be seen in a trending case of ex-signee Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad/Imole; how his life was cut short, how his fundamental rights as a human being was trampled upon just before his demise.
“The perpetrators of the acts include Sam Larry And Naira Marley as evidences are being opened up to the public how he was beaten, trailed as well as killed by these men – Sam Larry And Naira Marley.
“The Nigerian Police Force received this petition in June 2023, they refused to act claiming he didn’t show up when he was invited to defend his petition against his adversaries – Sam Larry and others after months of waiting. Sam Larry was said to have filed a counter petition against Mohbad.”
