The controversy surrounding the three-bedroom apartment reportedly gifted to Elsie Avemegah, the mother of Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale, has taken another turn.
The landlord of the property has stepped forward to debunk claims that the house was sold, asserting instead that it was merely rented by Shatta Wale’s management for a period of two years.
Speaking in an interview with GHPage TV, the landlord detailed the arrangements behind the rental. “The house belongs to me, and Shatta Wale, along with his management, came to rent the apartment for two years.
They rented it for GH¢ 3,000 a month. When I realised that Shatta Wale’s management had come to my building, I was happy, but they dealt directly with my team, and all payments went through them,” he explained.

The landlord expressed shock and disappointment upon discovering claims made by Shatta Wale’s manager, Sammy Flex, suggesting that the house had been purchased. “I was shocked when I saw on social media that the house was sold.
I went to my junior brother, who was involved in the transaction at the time Shatta was renting the house and asked him about it.
He told me that it was a lie. All that Sammy Flex said about buying the house is fake,” he said emphatically.
Adding another layer to the story, the landlord revealed that Shatta Wale’s mother, Elsie Avemegah, had already vacated the property. Her reasons for leaving, he stated, included dissatisfaction with the amenities.
“Shatta Wale’s mother said she didn’t like the place because there was no flowing water, along with other excuses. Meanwhile, we have a drilled mechanic well that supplies water to the building at all times,” he noted.
According to him, Elsie Avemegah’s stay in the apartment was remarkably brief. “She didn’t even stay in the building for more than a week.
“So, I made my team refund the money to the account that Shatta Wale’s management had given me,” the landlord said, confirming that the funds for the unused rental period had been returned.
