On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the passing of esteemed BBC broadcaster Komla Dumor, Alan Kyeremanteng, a presidential hopeful, has taken to his official Twitter page to express his heartfelt tribute.

Alan emphasized the numerous similarities he shared with Komla and how he was captivated by his immense knowledge and wisdom.

In his words, despite the significant age difference, Alan found himself drawn to Komla’s wisdom, which he exuded effortlessly. Furthermore, Alan revealed that he and Komla even shared the same birth date and expressed his regret that he couldn’t have chosen Komla as his running mate during one of his vice presidential nominations.

Komla Dumor, a renowned BBC TV presenter, tragically passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the age of 41, leaving many in shock and still struggling to come to terms with his untimely departure.

Before joining the BBC African Service in 2007, Komla had an illustrious career as a radio presenter at Joy FM for over a decade. He later became the lead presenter of the BBC’s esteemed Focus on Africa television program.

Throughout his career, Komla Dumor showcased his versatility as an interviewer and presenter, engaging with prominent figures such as former US President Bill Clinton and Ndaba Mandela, the grandson of Nelson Mandela, as reported by the BBC.

Alan wrote:

Komla would have been my Vice-Presidential Nominee in one of my earlier Presidential Primary bids. He and I shared a common day of birth, 3rd October, and in that respect, we considered ourselves as “soul brothers”. We shared common perspectives on many issues across various topics.

Although he was much younger than me, we communicated as peers due to his maturity and depth of reasoning.

We had very stimulating discussions about his work in journalism and my fields of public service and private-sector engagement. Komla, you fought a good fight at home in Ghana and around the world. You have left deep footprints that will always remain etched in history. Rest Peacefully in the bossom of the Good Lord.
