Kwan Pa Kwan Pa, an indigenous music band, has shared their inspiring journey on Hitz FM, reflecting on their growth and the influences that shaped their musical path.
During the interview, band member Ansah reminisced about the early days when they were just starting out, revealing how pivotal figures helped them navigate the music industry.
When the band was formed, Ansah was part of Roverman Productions alongside KOKA. He recounted, “I spoke to him about my idea, and he gave me about forty numbers of media personalities to connect with because he saw our talent and wanted to help us.”
This generosity from KOKA was instrumental in their rise, as it led to their very first media interview in 2017, marking a significant milestone in their career.
Reflecting on their journey, Ansah noted, “Now, seven years later, we’ve come so far.” This sentiment highlights their resilience and the evolution of their sound over the years.
He also paid homage to Dr. Sonudo, the leader of the Legon Palm Wine Band, acknowledging his influence. Ansah shared, “When I was on campus, I used to skip lectures to watch him perform. They are the reason we started our own Palm Wine band.”
Moreover, Dr. Sonudo’s encouragement to embrace modern and trendy songs has shaped Kwan Pa Kwan Pa’s musical repertoire, leading them to explore innovative sounds, including the creation of Christmas songs.
Their commitment to blending traditional music with contemporary influences is a testament to their dedication and passion for their craft.
