KOKA denies taking money from NDC to destroy King Paluta

Ghanaian entertainment critic and artiste manager, Kwaku Osei Koranteng Asiedu aka KOKA, has refuted claims of receiving payment from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to destroy King Paluta’s reputation.

KOKA faced criticism from some Ghanaians for his remarks on King Paluta, criticizing his vocal abilities as subpar and pointing out his tendency to sing off-key and use excessive repetitions in his music.

He did mention that he recognizes Paluta’s talent, but he believes that Paluta should take inspiration from rappers such as Castro, Kofi Kinaata, Amerado, and Sarkodie, who have successfully incorporated singing into their music at certain stages of their careers.

Nevertheless, he continues to receive criticism, with some accusing him of being influenced by the NDC, who have had a falling out with him since he performed for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during his recent campaign in the Ashanti Region.

In response to the criticism on Hitz FM, KOKA clarified that his remarks were not intended to belittle King Paluta, nor were they motivated by any ill will towards the artist.

“I’ve read on social media that I’m an NDC boy and I’ve been paid by the party. Meanwhile, I’m an NPP. I work for Bawumia. A lot of our people have not even listened to the song. And I think what I said has given them the opportunity to go listen to his songs.

“And then the fiasco of the wack performance he gave at Party in the Park; gradually, the bash for me had suppressed that.

“I’m not against him. I stream his song. I’m Ashanti. He’s an Ashanti boy. For the longest time, we have not had dominance from the Ashanti region. So, if our own has come and I’m speaking good about it, I don’t see why people should take me on and chastise me,” he said.

He defended his stance on King Paluta’s voice, insisting that more work needs to be done on his singing in order to ensure an improvement in his craft.

“He needs to work on his singing… We should help him. Those who claim to be music people should try and score the song… and see if what I’m saying is a lie. A lot of people don’t think I know or understand music. The fact that I don’t have the voice to sing does not mean I don’t understand what I do,” he said.
