Renowned broadcaster and fashion icon, Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) did not hold back in criticizing the outfits worn by celebrities at the recent Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).
According to him, many of the dresses were disappointing and failed to impress. He expressed his disappointment with how some celebrities seemed to prioritize outshining each other rather than focusing on elegant and tasteful fashion choices.
During an interview with Joy FM, KOD emphasized that he had higher expectations for the fashion sense displayed by attendees on the red carpet.
“For me, for the performers on the night, everyone brought their A-game. It was the red carpet that sucked.
“If we watch what happens out there, continentally, let me even come back to the African continent, events that take place in South Africa, Nigeria and what have you, we see [better stuff].
“Chale, don’t complicate things, especially for the brothers. Just wear a simple black suit and accentuate it with a bit of colour.
“Since the event is red-themed, maybe with red. In people’s quest to outdo themselves they actually under-do themselves,” he told the host Kwame Dadzie during the interview.
KOD is a renowned Ghanaian broadcaster, Master of Ceremonies, media expert and fashion designer.[3] Known as KOD, he is the CEO of the clothing line Nineteen 57, and the founder of the annual fashion and music event Rhythms on Da Runway.
