American actor and filmmaker John Krasinski has been named People’s 2024 “Sexiest Man Alive,” a title he inherited from Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey, who held the honour in 2023.
The surprise announcement came on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where Colbert humorously remarked that Krasinski had evolved from the “goofy, lovable boy next door” to a “big, dumb sex hunk.”
For Krasinski, the news was unexpected. In a candid video interview with People, he shared his shock, saying, “Just immediate blackout, so the brain just turned off.
Zero thoughts. Other than maybe I’m being punked.” He confessed that he never woke up thinking, “Is this the day I’ll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?” yet, when it did happen, he admitted the moment felt like “a false reality.”
Despite the surprise, Krasinski’s humility shone through, as he reflected on how much the title meant to him and how his wife, actress Emily Blunt, was thrilled about the honour.
He jokingly added that it might lead to more household chores for him, saying, “After the cover comes out, she’ll be like, ‘Alright, that means you’re really going to earn it here at home.’”
Krasinski’s career has long been defined by his versatility. His breakout role as Jim Halpert in The Office won over audiences, and since then, he’s taken on a wide array of projects.
From directing the suspenseful and critically acclaimed A Quiet Place films to starring in the action-packed Jack Ryan series, Krasinski has proven he’s more than just a charming actor.
His work as a director and producer has also garnered him recognition, with A Quiet Place marking a major turning point in his career.
