TMZ has reported that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have once again ended their marriage after two years. Lopez submitted her divorce petition on Tuesday in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, as indicated by court records.
A source familiar with the situation revealed that the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement.
The couple, who had a long history together, finally wed in July 2022 after rekindling their romance the previous year. Lopez and Affleck were previously engaged in the early 2000s but separated before tying the knot, spending 17 years apart.
Lopez was married to singer Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014, with whom she has two children, and was engaged to Alex Rodriguez in 2019 before they split in 2021. In total, Lopez has had four marriages.
Meanwhile, Affleck married actress Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018, and they share three children. Lopez and Affleck first met on the set of “Gigli” in 2002, and by November of that year, they were engaged. However, they announced their breakup in 2004.
Following her split from Rodriguez in 2021, Lopez was frequently seen with Affleck, leading to speculation about their renewed relationship. In April 2022, Lopez confirmed their engagement—20 years after the initial proposal.
They tied the knot on July 16, 2022, obtaining a marriage license from Clark County, Nevada. The couple exchanged vows in Las Vegas, arriving at the chapel just before midnight to join four other couples in line, as reported by Lopez’s fan newsletter, the J Lo, shortly after the ceremony.
“We did it,” the report said. “Behind us, two men held hands and held each other. In front of us, was a young couple who made the three-hour drive from Victorville on their daughter’s second birthday — all of us wanting the same thing — for the world to recognize us as partners and to declare our love to the world through the ancient and nearly universal symbol of marriage.”
The pair said at the time that “it was the best possible wedding we could have imagined. One we dreamed of long ago and one made real.”
