On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Chairperson of Ghana’s Electoral Commission, Mrs. Jean Mensa, has commended the resilience, professionalism, and strength of the Commission’s female staff.
She acknowledged their unwavering dedication, which played a crucial role in ensuring the peaceful, credible, and transparent electoral outcomes of December 7, 2024.
In her official statement, Mrs. Mensa celebrated the progress made in the fight for gender equality but emphasized that there is still work to be done.
She noted that women and girls continue to face barriers preventing them from reaching their full potential.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Accelerating Action: A Call for Gender Equality,” was described by Mrs. Mensa as highly relevant. She urged society to intensify efforts toward creating a world where women and girls have equal opportunities and representation in leadership.
“Let’s come together to accelerate action and join forces to create a more just and equitable society for all,” she stated, encouraging collective efforts in addressing gender disparities.
The Electoral Commission’s Chairperson also expressed confidence in the younger generation of women, highlighting their courage and resilience as a source of daily inspiration.
She further honoured the women who have significantly impacted the Electoral Commission over the past three decades, acknowledging their contributions to advancing gender equality.
