A civil lawsuit accusing music moguls Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 has been voluntarily dismissed.
The plaintiff’s legal team filed a notice of dismissal with prejudice in a Manhattan federal court, meaning the case cannot be refiled.

The lawsuit, initially filed in December 2024, alleged that Jay-Z and Diddy assaulted the plaintiff during an afterparty following the MTV Video Music Awards. However, the accuser’s attorney did not provide specific reasons for dropping the case.

Following the dismissal, Jay-Z released a statement declaring, “Today is a victory. The frivolous, fictitious, and appalling allegations have been dismissed.”
He further emphasized the emotional toll the case had on his family, adding, “The trauma that my wife, my children, my loved ones, and I have endured can never be dismissed.”
Diddy’s legal team also welcomed the outcome, asserting that the lawsuit was meritless. “Today’s complete dismissal without a settlement is yet another confirmation that these lawsuits are built on falsehoods, not facts,” a spokesperson for Combs stated.

While this particular case has been dropped, Diddy continues to face multiple other legal battles, including civil lawsuits and criminal charges related to sex trafficking and racketeering. He has pleaded not guilty to all allegations and maintains his innocence.
