During the 2024 Grammys, where he was awarded the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, American rap legend Jay-Z took a swipe at the Recording Academy, criticizing them for their decision not to award his wife, Beyoncé, the ‘Album of the Year.’
In his acceptance speech at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Jay-Z expressed his discontent with the Grammys’ judgment, highlighting that despite Beyoncé being the most awarded individual in Grammy history with 32 wins, she has never clinched the coveted Album of the Year category.
“I don’t wanna embarrass this young lady [Beyoncé], but she has more Grammys than anyone and never won Album of the Year. So, even by your own [Grammy organizers] metrics that doesn’t work. Think about that: the most Grammys never won Album of the Year, that doesn’t work. (sic),” he stated.

“Some of you are going to go home tonight and feel like you have been robbed,” Jay-Z added.
While Taylor Swift’s ‘Midnights’ secured the Album of the Year at the 2024 Grammys, Jay-Z’s critique shed light on what he perceives as a flaw in the Grammy decision-making process, questioning the oversight in recognizing Beyoncé’s excellence in the Album of the Year category.
