Renowned music producer JQ was among the distinguished recipients of awards at the Ghana Entertainment Awards USA, which took place at the Kaufman Music Center in New York City on July 6, 2024.

The Ghana Entertainment Awards USA stands as a prominent event within the Ghanaian and African creative arts and entertainment community in the Diaspora.

Born Jeff Tennyson Quaye, JQ was recognized for his remarkable contributions to Ghana’s creative arts and entertainment industry.

During his acceptance speech, he dedicated the award to the late Castro, emphasizing the significant strides made by the GaAdangbes in the industry.

Reflecting on his journey, which commenced with a rap group Buk Bak and later expanded to encompass an impressive portfolio, JQ highlighted his collaborations with Castro on various projects.

Notably, he commemorated the day of the award ceremony, July 6, as the tenth anniversary of Castro’s disappearance.

While expressing gratitude for the recognition, JQ also conveyed sadness over the unresolved mystery of Castro’s whereabouts.

JQ is the founder and current CEO of Q-Lex Entertainment and Jay-Qlex Recording Studio,

He has played a pivotal role in shaping the careers of numerous artists and popularizing genres such as Hiplife, Highlife, and Gospel.

Jay Q has an extensive collection of over 250 mega-hit songs, all of which demonstrate his exceptional talent for fusing traditional Ghanaian music with modern music trends.

His contributions have not only shaped the sound of numerous artists but have also raised the bar for music production in Ghana.

Castro and his friend Janet Badu allegedly drowned on July 6, 2014, following a jet ski accident at Ada Estuary causing a stir in both local and international entertainment news outlets.

While the jet ski involved in the accident was recovered on the same day of their disappearance, their bodies were not, despite a search by the police.

Now, a decade later, it appears that all hope has faded.
