Iconic musician Janet Jackson has incited the wrath of Nicki Minaj fans over a harmless post they obviously misinterpreted.
On Tuesday, September 5th, Michael Jackson’s sister shared a throwback photo of herself on Twitter. The image depicts her wearing a white jacket, and is accompanied by a caption, “#fashhhionn.”
Due to the fact that Minaj was also attired in white on her recently-revealed Pink Friday 2 album cover, a portion of her fan base, known as the Barbz, interpreted this as a form of disrespect by Janet Jackson and promptly inundated her comments section with their grievances.
Seeing the drama, a Janet Jackson fan page replied to the post writing: “#janfam sees no shade here. She’s showing off her fashion.”
Janet herself replied with a heart, adding: “It’s a shame that people want to pit one artiste against another.”
Catching the reply, Nicki retweeted it to her timeline, letting the Barbz know to stand down. “Icon. Legend. Royalty. The original definition of #ICanBeAllTheWayCoveredItsSTILLgivingSEXY,” she wrote.
