Aklerh has opened up about the challenges female artists face in the dancehall scene In a revealing segment of her interview with Giovani Caleb on 3FM monitored by Ghanastreetjournal.
Reflecting on the difficulties of being a woman in a male-dominated industry, she stated, “It’s tough. The bashing on social media is constant, but I’ve developed thick skin. You can’t let it break you.”
Despite the hurdles, Aklerh’s family has played a significant role in her journey. Her father, a well-known advocate for the Rastafarian movement in Ghana, wrote her song Mama, which celebrates the unconditional love of mothers.
She expressed how her family’s support and the influence of her Rastafarian roots shape her music and keep her grounded.
Over the years, Aklerh has collaborated with notable names like GR, NYJ, and Kwame of Eve Concepts, expanding her musical boundaries.
Her latest project, Mashup, is a vibrant afro-piano track that showcases her versatility. “It’s a new vibe, and we wanted to create something different. The feedback has been amazing,” she said.
Looking forward, Aklerh is optimistic about the future. She revealed plans for more music releases and projects in 2025.
“This year is all about hard work. After Mashup, there’s so much more coming,” she promised. She also teased a TikTok challenge tied to the song, inviting fans to participate for a chance to win cash prizes.
Aklerh also reflected on her bold fashion sense, adding, “Dancehall is about style, attitude, and lyrical dexterity. It’s who I am.”
With her unique blend of talent, style, and determination, Aklerh continues to make waves in the music scene.
