Nigerian beauty queen Chidimma Adetshina has officially announced her decision to retire from pageantry, citing personal challenges and the emotional toll of competing at the highest level.
During an interview on Silverbird TV, the former Miss Universe contestant shared candid insights into her experiences, revealing that while her success on the global stage was remarkable, it came at a significant personal cost.
“Finishing in the top 2 [at the Miss Universe competition] is still a shocker for me,” Chidimma said, reflecting on her achievement. “Honestly, I am done. Pageantry was a real traumatic experience for me.”

She further disclosed the emotional struggles she faced during her time in the competition, noting that there were moments when she contemplated quitting.

“People still don’t understand how I felt. There were times when I almost quit during the Miss Universe contest. I’m really done with pageantry,” she revealed.
Chidimma expressed a desire to move forward with her life, focusing on personal growth and education. “I want to focus on myself and establish who I am. And forward my education as well,” she stated, signalling a new chapter in her journey.
Chidinma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina was born in Soweto, South Africa, to a Nigerian father and a Mozambican mother.
Growing up in Cape Town, she developed a passion for fashion, modelling, and advocacy from a young age.
Her diverse heritage and upbringing in a multicultural environment have greatly influenced her worldview and aspirations.
