Abena Moet has responded to the negative feedback she faced after sharing her thoughts on Nana Mcbrown’s departure from UTV.
During an appearance on GHOne TV’s Toast with Maame Animwaa, she clarified that her remarks about Mcbrown being unappreciative towards her former Despite Media colleagues were taken out of context.
She explained that the complete video showed her praising Mcbrown, but only a small snippet was highlighted to create controversy.
While explaining herself, she said, “It’s part of my job,” Moet stated, emphasizing that no one directed her to say anything specific.
Moet added, “We are proud of her because we all know that she doesn’t have any formal education in journalism because she never went to media school, but she was able to host a show and did it so well.”
She explained that her comments were intended to praise McBrown’s achievements despite lacking formal journalism training, a view she feels was misunderstood.
“That was the joke part,” she clarified, adding that the full ten-minute segment was filled with compliments for McBrown.
She voiced her annoyance at the sensationalized headlines that surfaced, twisting her words and resulting in a strong negative reaction, even prompting McBrown’s fans to report her Instagram account.
Despite the uproar, Moet stands by McBrown’s accomplishments and clarifies that her remarks were not intended to offend.
Emphasizing the significance of context in media reporting, she encourages audiences to take into account the full context of her statements.
