Cardi B and Offset’s relationship status has been officially confirmed; they are no longer together.
The Grammy-award-winning rapper took to Instagram Live to address the rumours surrounding her relationship with Offset and confirmed that she is now single.
“I’ve been single for a minute now. But I have been afraid… Not afraid, I just don’t know how to tell the world. But I feel like today has been, like, a sign.” Cardi B said she wants to start the new year “fresh” and “open,” as she admitted, “I’m curious for a new life, for a new beginning. And yeah… I’m excited.”
The couple’s relationship status update follows their joint attendance at the TikTok In the Mix music festival in Mesa, Arizona on Sunday night. However, despite being present at the event, they were not captured together in any photographs.
In addition, during the Live session, she openly acknowledged that her recent social media posts have been filled with “hints” regarding her relationship status. Fans had previously observed that both she and Offset, whom she privately married in 2017, had unfollowed each other on Instagram last week.
“I don’t know if you guys have been getting clues from me, from my Lives, or from my Stories, when I put some certain music, or find my unfollowings,” she said during the Live.
Cardi B gave fans a glimpse of the impending split in a message she shared weeks ago, in which her fans started questioning the status of her relationship with Offset.
“You know when you just outgrow relationships,” Cardi B wrote over a black background on her Dec. 4 Instagram Story, adding in a subsequent slide, “I’m tired of protecting people’s feelings…I GOTTA PUT MYSELF FIRST!”
And to add fuel to the rumour fire, it also looks like the two no longer follow each other on Instagram. Cardi B and Offset have yet to publicly comment on the issue.
The couple, who have a daughter named Kulture, 5, and a son named Wave, 2, have faced challenges in their relationship before. They previously separated temporarily in December 2018 due to Offset’s infidelity, but reconciled in early 2019. This is not the first time they have encountered difficulties since getting married in 2017.
It was a decision the “Bodak Yellow” rapper later defended.
“When me and my husband got into our issues—you know, he cheated and everything—and I decided to stay with him and work together with him, a lot of people were so mad at me,” Cardi told Vogue for its January 2020 issue. “A lot of women felt disappointed in me. But it’s real-life s–t. If you love somebody and you stop being with them, you’re not really happy on the inside until you have the conversation.”
