Ghanaian singer and performer, Mr. Drew, has dismissed claims that Ghanaian music is struggling to gain recognition beyond the country’s borders.
Speaking in an interview on Property FM with Amansan Krakye, the Case hitmaker challenged recent statements made by UK-based Ghanaian media personality George Britton, who claimed that Ghanaian songs don’t even reach neighbouring countries like Togo and Ivory Coast.
“I don’t think that’s true that our songs don’t even cross to Togo or Ivory Coast, but I think that we are trying our best,” Mr. Drew asserted.
He emphasized that building a strong music industry takes time and that Ghanaian artists are making steady progress.
“Rome wasn’t built in one day, so we are not going to have everything happening in one day. It’s bits by bits, and everything will be okay,” he explained.
While acknowledging that there’s always room for improvement, Mr. Drew stood firm in his belief that Ghanaian music is making waves beyond the country’s borders.
“So we, the Ghanaian artists, are trying our best, but as to whether Ghanaian songs are just in Ghana, I don’t agree,” he added.
