Sista Afia has acknowledged the challenges of running a business in Ghana after her kelewele joint collapsed.
Recall that the collapse of her business was first revealed by Efia Odo during their feud.
Opening up about it for the first time, Sista Afia admitted that as a brand, she had little time to handle the business owing to her busy schedule, which may have contributed to its downfall.
Furthermore, she also noted that the location of her business was not ideal, prompting her to shut it down and explore other options.
“It’s not easy to manage a business. You just have to make sure you pay attention to the business. If you don’t mind it, it will collapse.
“That’s why I am always keeping an eye on my business; I pay close attention to everything, especially the money,” she stated.
The singer and occasional rapper also clarified that her public image was too intertwined with her business, which ultimately hurt its success.
“Everyone saw that the business belonged to me. But as an artiste, I saw that if I had a business, it was best to keep it private,” she said.
She clarified that the closure was not due to financial reasons but she wanted a change of venue.
“It wasn’t about the money; I just needed a new location. The place I was at first was just a street-side stand, but now I have a shop,” she added.
Sista Afia also mentioned that she currently runs two additional businesses, one in Accra and the other in Kumasi.
