It Hurts to This Day – McBrown Opens Up About Suzzy Williams’ Death and False Accusations

Ghanaian actress and TV host Nana Ama McBrown has broken her silence on one of the most painful chapters of her life—the tragic death of her colleague Suzzy Williams and the false accusations that followed.

Speaking candidly on Onua Showtime, McBrown shared her experiences, reflecting on the bond she shared with Suzzy and the toll the baseless allegations took on her.

“Suzzy was like a sister to me. We were often paired together on sets, including Abdul Salam Mumuni’s productions and shows like Tentacles.

When I first heard of Suzzy’s death, I had just got back from Italy. I was in a Ford bus heading home, and that was when I found out. It was a shock,” she recounted, her voice filled with emotion.

McBrown, who has become a household name in Ghana’s entertainment industry, described the late Suzzy Williams as a vibrant and confident force who dominated the screens at the height of her career.

“At that time, Suzzy was hotter and more successful than me. I know I was also getting noticed, but Suzzy’s presence, especially in Accra, where the entertainment scene was so vibrant, was undeniable. She had the confidence that came with it,” McBrown admitted, acknowledging Suzzy’s impact in the industry.

The tragedy, however, took an unexpected turn for McBrown when rumours began circulating, accusing her of involvement in Suzzy’s death.

Recalling how she first confirmed the news, McBrown said, “When I heard the news, the first person I called was Kofi Adjorlolo to confirm if it was true.

He told me it was, and even mentioned he was standing by her body at the mortuary. It wasn’t a serious injury, just some scratches on her breast. But then, I started hearing accusations that I had killed Suzzy.”

The actress expressed disbelief at the allegations and vehemently denied ever engaging in such acts.

“If I’ve ever gone to any juju man, I challenge them to come forward and speak. At that time, we didn’t even know what competition was. Suzzy was Ewe, and I’m Asante. How could an Asante woman like me have done something like that to her?”

The rumours, however, lingered, causing pain that McBrown still feels today.

“It hurts, and to this day, people still accuse me. But I leave it to God,” she added, her tone reflecting the emotional burden she continues to carry.
