Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has sparked conversations about fairness in promotions within structured institutions in Ghana.
In a Facebook post, she posed critical questions about the promotion system, particularly in security services.
“When younger officers are promoted above their seniors, forcing them into early retirement, is it good?” she asked.
She further questioned the impact of breaking traditional promotion structures, stating, “When precedents are set by promotions that have never been done, what happens to the system?”
Gomashie also expressed concern over officers being sidelined in career progression. “When people in line for promotion in a structured environment are sidelined, what happens to those who sidelined?” she wrote.
Additionally, she raised the issue of stagnation in certain positions while others experienced steady career growth. “Why are some people left in the same position/appointment or location for years while others are promoted?”
