Victoria Hamah, the a deputy minister of communications under the John Dramani Mahama’s administration, has humorously mentioned that she is yet to receive the $1million that caused her dismissal from her position.
In November 2013, an audio recording of her voice was leaked to the public, leading to her termination as deputy minister. The leaked audio allegedly contained her statement about intending to accumulate a $1 million fortune before retiring from politics.
This sparked controversy and public pressure, ultimately resulting in then-President John Mahama relieving her of her duties. A letter from Mahama Ayariga, the Minister for Information at the time, conveyed the President’s decision but did not disclose the actual reason for her dismissal.
Years later, Victoria took to social media to make light of the incident and remind Ghanaians that she had not received the money, yet she faced severe consequences. She stated;
“I still don’t have the $1 million,” she wrote on her page, accompanied by a laughing emoji to indicate it was a light-hearted comment.
