Behind every successful star lies a story of resilience, challenges, and the people who believed in them when others didn’t.
For Ghanaian dancehall sensation Shatta Wale, one of those pivotal figures was legendary Hip-Life artiste Tinny. In a heartfelt reflection during a podcast hosted by Hammer Time, Shatta Wale expressed deep gratitude for Tinny’s unwavering support during his most challenging times.
“Tinny was taking care of me; I was feeling so comfortable, and I wasn’t misusing it,” Shatta Wale shared with emotion. His words paint a picture of a young man navigating the uncertainties of life while leaning on the generosity of someone who saw his potential.

In recounting a particularly personal memory, Shatta Wale revealed how Tinny’s support extended beyond music.

“When I met my first girl, he had to go and give the girl money because I wasn’t having anything at that time,” he recalled, highlighting the depth of Tinny’s care and belief in him.
For Shatta Wale, Tinny’s influence is unforgettable. “When I talk about Ghanaian artistes who have really helped me to survive, it’s Tinny, and I always give him that respect,” he said, emphasizing how those early acts of kindness shaped his journey.
Even now, as one of Africa’s biggest music stars, Shatta Wale carries a sense of indebtedness to Tinny.
“I still owe him now, and I really want to do things for him,” he admitted. “Most of the time, I like to call him and tell him that I’m working hard so he should give me some chance so that I can be able to show my gratitude.”
