Ghanaian actress and social media influencer Rosemond Alade Brown, popularly known as Akuapem Poloo, has expressed her gratitude after winning the prestigious “Discovery of the Year” award at the 2024 Ghana Movie Awards, held on January 18, 2025, at the International Conference Centre.
“I’m happy to be here, to stand here and receive an award,” Akuapem Poloo shared during her acceptance speech, reflecting on her journey.
“I think my first time coming to the Ghana Movie Awards was in 2016, and since then, they’ve been inviting me. But to be nominated, I will say a big thanks to Allah.”
Poloo, who has become one of Ghana’s most well-known figures both for her acting and her social media presence, also took the opportunity to thank those who supported her journey.
“I will say thank you to Juliet Ibrahim for casting me in Widow’s Gift. Thank you to the Ghana Movie Awards, thank you, Mr. Fred, for believing in me, and thank you to all the producers who cast me in their movies,” she said.
The night was made even more special for her, as she was presented with the award by two legendary figures in the Ghanaian film industry—Jackie Appiah and Ramsey Noah.
“I’m too blessed to have the legendary Jackie Appiah and Ramsey Noah present this award to me,” she added, her voice filled with gratitude.
