Kofi Kinaata has acknowledged his efforts in promoting Fante music and establishing his legacy within the industry and as far as entertainment news in Ghana is concerned.
Despite this, he humbly recognizes that the achievements of Fante music legends such as Ebo Taylor, Papa Yaankson, and Pat Thomas far surpass what he and his contemporaries can achieve.
Kinaata admires the timeless quality of their music, which remains relevant even after several decades.
The multiple-time winner of the TGMA Songwriter of the Year award said he is committed to contributing to the industry’s growth but understands that he cannot reach the same level of impact as the legendary figures he admires.
He said this when he interacted with Amansan Krakye on Property FM in a recent interview.
In his words; “What the likes of Ebo Taylor and the legendary veterans have done in the Ghanaian music scene some of us in the current generation cannot do it.
“Just that some of us it’s our time to also do our own and play our part so we continue holding on till a lot of people also get involved,” he opined.
“But to be sincere what the legendary musicians like Paapa Yankson, Pat Thomas and the rest have done and the kind of songs they did are evergreen.
“Even today when I hear some of the songs that Paapa Yankson did, I tell myself that these legends have done everything already in the music scene.
He stated on the show “I’m glad that people feel that I’m holding on to the Fante legacy in the music space but I’ve got nothing on them to continue what the legends did”.
