Fifteen years ago, Kunta Kinte, one-half of the popular Ghanaian music duo Bradez, was living the dream of every budding artist.
Together with his brother Flowking Stone, he created hits that resonated across the country, with their music dominating charts and captivating audiences. But life threw him an unexpected challenge that tested his resilience and shook the foundation of his career.
In a heartfelt interview on Fakye TV’s Fakye Showbiz, Kunta Kinte opened up about his long battle with illness. “I have been sick for the past fifteen years,” he revealed, his voice carrying both vulnerability and strength.
“But I remain motivated and believe that one day I will be completely healed.” His battle began with a stroke, a condition that initially left him unable to walk or use his arms, confining him to a wheelchair.
“For a while, I couldn’t even walk or use my arms. I had to sit in a wheelchair,” he explained, reflecting on the early days of his ordeal. Yet, even in those dark moments, he refused to give up. “I didn’t stay in it for long,” he said, highlighting the determination that has fueled his gradual recovery.
Kunta Kinte’s story is one of resilience, not just in health but in his ability to navigate life with optimism despite the many obstacles he has faced.
His journey, marked by pain and perseverance, is a story he acknowledges could take days to recount. “If I were to tell you my story, I wouldn’t finish today,” he admitted, his words hinting at the depth of his struggles over the years.
Before the illness, Kunta Kinte and Flowking Stone, as Bradez, were a dynamic force in Ghana’s music industry. Their song Simple became an anthem, celebrated for its catchy rhythm and witty lyrics.
