Comedian Eunice ‘Mammito’ Wanjiru has opened up about her decision to keep her relationship and pregnancy private, shedding light on the man behind her recent journey to motherhood.
In an interview with journalist Betty Kyalo, Mammito shared her reasons for stepping away from public scrutiny and embracing a relationship outside the entertainment industry.
“He is someone’s son. He is not in the (entertainment) industry, and I think that is what I wanted,” Mammito explained.
“I wanted someone who does something completely different because I dated in the industry, and I preferred not to date in the industry again.
“I wanted someone who is doing something different, something I don’t understand as long as he is making money for us.”
The comedian, known for her wit and charm, revealed her pregnancy in late October, surprising her over one million followers with a video announcement after months of keeping it under wraps.
The revelation came shortly after a cryptic post teasing fans about her celibacy journey, which added an element of surprise to the news.
Mammito has since balanced the wave of curiosity surrounding her pregnancy with humour, refusing to divulge details about her partner.
When asked about introducing him to the public, she was firm in her stance.
“I will keep him private because that is what you do in this city of Nairobi. You never know. You go public with him, and the next thing you know, the public is criticizing him—‘Ohh! he is not good looking’—and things like that while others are trying to steal him away.”
