If You Had Respected Your Husband, Would He Have Divorced You? – Christiana Awuni Slams Rev. Charlotte Oduro

For years, Rev. Charlotte Oduro has built her brand on counselling women to endure difficult marriages, urging them to be patient, submissive, and respectful to their husbands.

Many saw her as a pillar of traditional values, while others criticized her for placing the burden of marital survival solely on women. But in a twist of fate, the very counselor who preached perseverance in marriage is now facing a public backlash following the news of her own divorce.

Kumawood actress Christiana Awuni, known for her no-nonsense personality, did not hold back in her reaction to Rev. Oduro’s situation. In an interview with Max TV, Awuni pointed out what she saw as hypocrisy in the counselor’s past teachings.

“So, at that time, she was asking women to condone the bad habits of men and advising them to endure in their relationships, she has been divorced? In life, nobody knows what will happen tomorrow. No one knows what will happen in the next minute or hour.

“So, when others are going through pain, you should be careful about what you say,” Awuni remarked.

The actress went on to question why Rev. Oduro always directed her advice at women, seemingly absolving men of responsibility in marriage.

“Maybe she thought she was offering advice, but that’s not how it works. You can’t just advise couples when you’re not in their marriage.

“She was always attacking women, not men. You can’t keep forcing women to endure marriages, respect their husbands, and so on. If you had respected your husband, would he have divorced you?”

Awuni did not stop there. She believes that Rev. Oduro owes an apology to the women who took her advice to heart, possibly enduring toxic relationships because of it.

“If she is not ashamed, she should come and apologise to us and say that she’s sorry,” Awuni stated bluntly.
