Ghanaian socialite and media personality Efia Odo has set the internet ablaze with her candid remarks on dating standards.
Speaking on the Rants, Bants, and Confessions podcast, she was clear about her preferences when it comes to relationships, emphasizing that a man without a car is simply not an option for her.
“I don’t care what anyone says; if you don’t have a car, I’m not interested,” Efia Odo declared unapologetically. She explained that her preference isn’t about being materialistic but about ensuring comfort and compatibility in a relationship.
“At the end of the day, I like to look good, and I’m not going to sit in an Uber, have my hair messed up, or my expensive clothes wrinkled. It’s about standards.”

Efia admitted that her perspective has evolved over the years. “Maybe three or four years ago, when I wasn’t as sure of myself, I might have said, ‘Oh, I don’t mind.’ But now? Absolutely not. I need a man with a car. It’s not about him being rich; it’s about practicality.”
She further elaborated on why this preference matters. “Imagine my car breaks down or needs servicing. I don’t want a man who will tell me to take an Uber. I need someone who can send me one of his cars to use. It’s about being reliable and having a sense of responsibility,” she added.
Efia also drew comparisons between dating in Ghana and other countries like the U.S., where Uber services are often more luxurious.
“In places like New York or Europe, Uber has Teslas and Mercedes. But here in Ghana? The Ubers are mostly small cars that don’t offer the same comfort. It’s not the same experience,” she explained.
