Okyeame Quophi has admitted that he was responsible for Hiplife’s first diss song ‘Maba’ rapped and sung by Ex Doe.

As disclosed by Quophi Okyeame who was formerly a member of the formidable group Akyeame, Ex-Doe, a fellow rapper who aimed subliminal shots at Reggie Rockstone in the song, used him as a ghostwriter.

The song which is one of the iconic songs within the annals of Hiplife saw Ex Doe dissing Reggie who claimed he pioneered the Hiplife movement and hence addressed himself as the president of the rap genre in Ghana.

The Maba song also tackled Chicago, a former friend of Ex Doe which set the tone for one of the fiercest rivalries in the rap game over twenty tears ago.

Quophi revealed this while naming some musicians for whom he has written tracks for in the past on the Accra-based Joy FM.

“…and I wrote for Ex-Doe. This is why Reggie will never like me,” he said.

According to him, he wrote the entire ‘Maba’ song after Ex-Doe approached him with a beat that had been given to him by Nana King.

“Ex-Doe came to me in Kumasi. He actually moved from Accra and came to Kumasi. He had a beat from Nana King and was looking for what to say with it, so we brainstormed and the idea came because people were living in Accra, we were living in Kumasi, we were the kingpins of the Kumasi rap and Accra person was claiming Presidency.”
