I Won’t Inherit This Mess – Sam George Justifies Ghana Post Job Cuts

Communications Minister, Sam George, has defended his decision to terminate nearly 100 employees at Ghana Post Limited, citing concerns over an irregular recruitment process.

Speaking to the press on Tuesday, Sam George explained that the affected staff members were hired after the December 7, 2024 elections, a period he described as questionable.

“If you are a minister and you take over a ministry that has 3,117 staff in the ministry and its agencies and 600 were recruited after December 7, you cannot expect me to come and inherit such a mess, and so the rationalisation is ongoing,” he stated.

He further disclosed that the dismissals were part of a broader effort to clean up the ministry and ensure that recruitment processes are fair and transparent.

“Today, I have authorised a termination of a few more at Ghana Post, almost 100 that were done post-election,” he added.
