Ace Ghanaian actress Akofa Edjeani has finally addressed the controversies surrounding the appointment of Kafui Danku-Pitcher and James Gardiner to the Ghana Film Authority.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review, she revealed that she had initially submitted her CV for consideration but later withdrew her interest before the final appointments were made.
“I submitted my CV to the president, but as I said, you can’t tell the president what to do. Also, the fact that I didn’t get the position is no big deal at all. I sent a message to the president long before the appointments were made, stating that I was no longer interested,” she explained.
Edjeani disclosed that her initial decision to apply was influenced by external pressure from industry players. However, after careful reflection, she realized the role was not something she truly wanted.
“I made that decision after careful thought. I realized that it wasn’t something I wanted after all. I only submitted my CV due to pressure from industry players,” she noted.
Despite speculation that she might be unhappy about the appointments, she dismissed any notion of resentment and instead urged the industry to rally behind the new appointees.
“All we need to do is support Kafui and James to succeed. You know how much I have contributed to this industry, so I believe that’s why my name was mentioned for the position. However, I have no problem with Kafui and James being appointed. I am not upset about their appointments,” she stated.
