Afua Asantewaa has turned to social media to respond to the rejection from the Guinness World Record following her attempt to set a new record after singing for 126 hours.

In a Facebook post, she reassured her fans and well-wishers that she would address the issue in her next course of action, which she plans to announce in the coming days.

The news of the outcome of my Sing-a-thon attempt came few minutes as I was preparing to host a gala dinner and the launch of the Lebanese Scholarship Alumni Network attended by the President President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I would announce my next line of action in few days. Thank you all for your love and support. When life hands you lemons, turn them to lemonade. Success is sweetest when snatched out of the jaws of defeat,” she wrote.

Afua Asantewaa endured a five-day singing marathon that commenced at midnight on Sunday, December 24 and concluded at 7:00 am on December 29.

At the time of her record attempt on Friday morning, the young woman had sung for five days, six hours, and 55 minutes.

On Friday, February 23, the Guinness World Records office announced that Ghanaian Afua Asantewaaa Aduonum’s attempt to set a record for the longest singing marathon was not successful after 2 months of waiting.

In an X post, the Guinness World Record said it had rejected her application after reviewing evidence of the 126 hours and 52 minutes of sing-a-thon.

“Unfortunately Afua’s Guinness World Records attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon. We’ve seen how inspirational it has been for her fans. The evidence check had already begun before Afua requested priority service, so we refunded her payment earlier this month. We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempts,” the response by GWR said.
