Nana Sarfo Kantanka, the ex-husband of Ghanaian actress NAYAS, has opened up about the reasons behind the collapse of their marriage, citing excessive spending habits as a major factor.
In an interview, he described NAYAS as being primarily interested in money, which ultimately led to their incompatibility.
Kantanka recalled a particular incident that highlighted the couple’s differences in financial priorities.
He shared, “She asked me for GHC 2,000 just to buy body cream and soap. When I told her it was too expensive, she responded, ‘Nana Ama McBrown and other celebrities use this brand.’”
This exchange, according to Kantanka, was a turning point in their relationship, revealing the stark contrast in their values.

He continued, “I realized I was with the wrong person. I couldn’t understand how anyone could justify spending such a large amount on personal care items.”
These repeated demands and what he perceived as a lack of consideration made him question their future together.
Ultimately, Kantanka concluded that the financial strain and differing values were insurmountable, leading to the dissolution of their marriage.
“Our priorities were too far apart for the relationship to work,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of shared values in any partnership.
