I was returning from my Achimota studio- Kuami Eugene on how his accident happened

Kuame Eugene has shared with Adinkra Multimedia NY the sequence of events that led to his near-fatal accident.

The songwriter, producer, and award-winning singer mentioned that an up-and-coming musician had been eager for a verse from him, so he agreed to collaborate.

He said despite having a studio at his house, he opted to use his other studio in Achimota for the feature.

After finishing the recording session, he recalled that everyone else had left the studio except for one person.

Narrating further, Kuame Eugene said the unnamed person was left stranded as his usual route home was not being used by anyone else.

To assist the gentleman, Kuame Eugene decided to drop him off at Lapaz, a more convenient location that would also save him money on transportation.

Due to this act of kindness, Kuame Eugene deviated from his usual route that day.

“Fast-forward, I dropped him off and was making a U-turn to join the main road.

That was when I realised that the street cameras on the Achimota stretch omit a very loud light because they want to capture vehicles that use that stretch,” he said.

Kuami Eugene was injured and hospitalized for a few days after his car collided with a tipper truck on March 17.

The incident took place at CP, near the DSTV office towards the Dzowulu traffic light in Accra. The artist’s destination at the time of the accident remains unknown.

Emmanuel Ajarfor Abugri, the Editor for the Modern Ghana news portal, witnessed the accident and reported that he was following closely behind the musician’s car when the collision happened around 11:30 pm.

The tipper truck was in motion, albeit slowly, when the musician crashed into it from the rear.

Abugri attributed the accident to the poor lighting on the N1 highway and the lack of tail lights on the tipper truck, which made visibility even worse.

The male passenger in the car did not show any visible injuries but complained of neck and back pain to the nurses at UGMC Hospital.

Ajarfor also says he called in police officers from the Achimota Police Station to the scene who towed his car.
