Kumawood actress and movie producer Joyce Boakye has opened up about how she was influenced by others to hurl insults on social media, admitting that she deeply regrets her actions.
Speaking in an interview with actress and TV host Emelia Brobbey, Boakye revealed that her early experiences with social media were shaped by people who encouraged her to make controversial statements just to gain attention.
“I was new to social media, and people around would come to me and tell me to say certain things for trends,” she disclosed.
“Sometimes, people around me tell me some of the abusive words I use on social media are from people.”
She admitted that her past online behavior was, in part, inspired by the provocative roles she played in Kumawood movies.
“You know, Miracle Films taught us how to insult, but there are insults that I say on social media that are written by people. I thought it would pay off because I wanted the attention,” she explained.
However, she now acknowledges the damage her words have caused and wishes she could erase them.
“Sometimes I regret the words I said on social media. I wish I could delete them, but it is not possible,” she lamented. “There are things that I have said and done on social media, and I am begging people I have faulted to forgive me for my utterances.”
