Ghanaian actress Gloria Sarfo has taken to social media to voice her frustrations with the organizers of The Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
In a video shared by blogger Zionfelix, she criticized the unfair treatment she and several other Ghanaian filmmakers received.
In her video, Gloria disclosed a troubling experience. “I was given a fraudulent flight ticket for my journey to Nigeria for the awards ceremony,” she shared. Unfortunately, this led to her being denied boarding at the airport.

This incident, however, was not isolated. She recounted that veteran actress Akofa Edjeani Asiedu and filmmaker Abdul Salam Mumuni faced a similar predicament, being stranded at the airport for hours.
“They were left completely unaware of the situation, despite being promised an all-expenses-paid trip to the event,” Gloria stated.
Gloria, who was once the host of ‘Music Music’ on TV3, expressed deep regret for the sacrifices she made to attend the AMAA ceremony. “I sacrificed attendance at a movie set, a feature film, a short film, an awards night for which I was nominated, and a movie premiere—all to face this humiliation,” she lamented.
Furthermore, Gloria pointed out the preferential treatment that Nigerian actors receive when they visit Ghana for events. “When their Nigerian counterparts arrive for film shoots or award ceremonies, all their specified needs are met without issue,” she highlighted.
This disparity in treatment between Ghanaian and Nigerian actors left her feeling frustrated and disappointed. The AMAA, Africa Movie Academy Awards, is a prestigious event that recognizes and honours excellence in the African film industry.
However, Gloria’s recent revelations cast a shadow over its reputation, raising questions about the integrity and management of the event.
