Renowned musician Fameye has expressed disappointment over his inability to secure the ‘Songwriter of the Year’ award at the 2023 VGMA event.
During an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, the musician expressed his opinion that he believed he deserved that award.
“Honestly, I was a little bit disappointed, even though the awards are just for bragging rights. Sometimes your fans get disappointed because they want to get the bragging right and be sitting somewhere and boast about you,” he said.
After losing out to Perez Muzik, a gospel musician, Fameye stated he thought Piesie Esther would take home the prize instead. “Honestly, I knew that if I don’t win, maybe Piesie Esther will take it.”
Fameye received a nomination in the same category as Black Sherif, Diana Hamilton, Ewura Abena, Piesie Esther, and Perez Muzik.
Furthermore, the’ Praise’ hitmaker stated that he never heard the song that earned Perez Musik the “Songwriter of the Year” title. “I didn’t even know that Perez song. I only heard it after he was announced as the winner of the category. But I think he deserved it because it sounded nice when they played in the auditorium.” he added
