Bisa Kdei has conveyed his desire to maintain relevance and remain timeless, hoping that some of his older tracks will still be popular two decades from now.

In an interview with Amansan Krakye of Property FM, the Highlife artist expressed that it would be invigorating to hear his signature songs, Mansa and Brother Brother, which were released nearly ten years ago, continue to receive significant airplay and be featured at various events.

His remarks highlight the legacy of the iconic Ghanaian guitarist and composer Ebo Taylor, who continues to tour globally and release new music well into his eighties.

Bisa Kdei mentioned that witnessing Ebo Taylor’s ongoing success and ability to produce enduring music at such an advanced age serves as a personal benchmark for his own future aspirations.

Hoping to replicate the same feat, the musician said; “Seeing Ebo Taylor performing all over the world after 80 years of age is so nice, trust me when I see such things I become so inspired and motivated.

“That’s what I’m aiming for in future and that’s the benchmark I’ve set for myself because Highlife is unique and you can never go wrong with it.

“For the next 20 years, people will continue listening to my songs like Mansa and Brother Brother and others because these songs are timeless music.

“So the path that has been created by the legends like Ebo Taylor that’s what we have to follow because that’s the only way to keep the Highlife alive,” he added.

Who is Ebo Taylor?

Ebo Taylor is a Ghanaian guitarist, composer, bandleader, record producer and arranger focusing on highlife and afrobeat music.

Ebo Taylor has played a crucial role in the Ghanaian music landscape for more than sixty years. During the late 1950s, he was involved with prominent highlife ensembles such as the Stargazers and the Broadway Dance Band.

In 1962, Taylor brought his ensemble, the Black Star Highlife Band, to London, where he worked alongside Nigerian afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti and various other African artists residing in Britain during that period.
