Amid swirling rumours and viral claims questioning his loyalty to his own campaign, the leader of the New Force party, Nana Kwame Bediako, aka Cheddar, has broken his silence, setting the record straight about his vote in the 2024 general elections.
At a press conference in Accra on December 23, 2024, Cheddar refuted allegations that he had cast his ballot for his rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“The 276 tour that I did—despite the challenges, the kind of food and water we endured, the coldness—after all that, Ghanaians want to tell me I still went ahead and voted for someone else?” he questioned, his voice heavy with disbelief.
The accusations stemmed from a video widely circulated online, which purportedly showed him engaging in suspicious behaviour during the voting process.
Explaining the moment, he said, “I took the paper to count if the number was still 13 and if I was still number 12. While I was counting, somebody said I held it and voted, but you see, as a nation, don’t we get enough of destroying our own?”
He used the platform not only to clear his name but to remind Ghanaians of the sacrifices his team made during the gruelling campaign trail.
“This journey was about hope and change, and despite the outcome, we have achieved something significant,” he added.
Acknowledging the support from his family and closest allies, Cheddar said, “Yes, my wife voted for me, and my family also voted. That is okay.
But whatever they gave us, that is okay because sometimes God gives you 1, sometimes He gives you 10, sometimes He gives you 9.”
