Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, fondly called Mama G, recently opened up about her admiration for Funke Akindele, describing her as a mirror of her own resilience and work ethic.
Speaking at a pre-premiere dinner for Akindele’s much-anticipated movie Everybody Loves Jenifa, the seasoned actress drew parallels between their life journeys, showcasing the power of perseverance in the face of challenges.
“Funke Akindele is a very strong woman,” Ozokwor said, her voice filled with genuine respect. “I love strong women. I am a strong woman too. I am talking about the things that I do at home. I went through thick and thin to become who I am today.”
The veteran actress, known for her iconic roles in Nollywood films, didn’t shy away from sharing deeply personal experiences from her past.

“I used to go to the morgue to dress dead bodies so my children could go to school and eat,” she revealed, pausing as the audience absorbed her words. “I did a lot of things to make my family what they are today.”
Ozokwor’s reflections highlighted her unwavering determination, emphasizing that she is celebrated in her hometown for her sacrifices.
“They say no prophet is accepted in their town, but in my place, they appreciate me a lot because they saw me through all these things,” she added with pride.
She went on to draw a heartfelt comparison between her journey and Akindele’s. “That’s the way I see Funke. When I see her, I look at myself. She’s a replica of who I am,” Ozokwor said, smiling warmly.
