I Trust Yohuno to Fix Promotion Issues in Police Service – Retired COP Alex Mensah

Retired Commissioner of Police (COP) George Alex Mensah has called on newly appointed Inspector-General of Police (IGP) COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno to address long-standing concerns over officer promotions within the Ghana Police Service.

Speaking on JoyNews’ The Pulse, Mensah highlighted the frustration among officers regarding unfair promotions, where junior officers are elevated above their seniors without clear justification.

“We are praying that Mr. Yohuno will come and correct all these promotion difficulties where junior officers will be promoted over and above their seniors without any reasonable evidence showing that they have done something better than anybody,” he said.

Expressing confidence in the new IGP’s leadership, Mensah added, “I know Yohuno will do that, I trust him.”

COP Yohuno, who was recently sworn in by President John Dramani Mahama, takes over at a time when internal concerns about fairness in promotions have been widely discussed within the police force.
