Ghanaian socialite Nana Tornado has revealed that he abandoned Christianity five years ago, choosing instead to embrace free-thinking—a decision he says transformed his life. Speaking on the Rants, Bants, and Confessions podcast on March 27, 2025, he argued that relying on religion stifles personal effort and growth.
“I became a free thinker five years ago. I used to be a Christian who believed that God would do everything for me. Growing up, my father taught me that God would take care of everything… Almost 90 percent of Ghanaians need jobs, yet they are in church, hoping that God will provide for them, even though they haven’t even submitted an application letter,” he stated.
Tornado dismissed the idea of miracles, insisting that success comes from hard work.
“Everything in this world is 99 percent effort; if prayer works, it accounts for only 1 percent. There is no miracle anywhere, you have to wake up and work for it. I started making money when I became a free thinker,” he said.
He also claimed that since stepping away from Christianity, he has accomplished everything he has set out to do.
“If there is a God who has given us the ability to think, what else do I need from Him? Therefore, let us remove God and Satan from every equation and think as rational human beings,” he asserted.
Tornado criticized some pastors for encouraging laziness among their followers, arguing that their teachings keep many Ghanaians in poverty. His bold statements have sparked debate, with some agreeing with his perspective and others defending the role of faith in success.
