Renowned media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has shared how an unexpected conversation during a trip led her to land her first radio job without an audition.
Speaking on Joy Prime with Roselyn Felli monitored by Ghanastreetjournal, she recounted an encounter with a man while reading Pilgrim’s Progress on a journey.
“I remember I was reading Pilgrim’s Progress on my way back, and this gentleman asked me which book it was,” she recalled.
“When I told him, he said he had it on his desk but hadn’t made time to read it.”

Their conversation evolved into a discussion about books and eventually led to the man inquiring about her visit.
“I told him I came for an audition, but I really wanted to see someone. He took me to his office, and it turned out he was the director of radio,” Nana Aba revealed.
To her surprise, he made a life-changing decision on the spot.
“He said, ‘You don’t need to go for the audition. I think you’ll be on radio.’ And that’s how it happened. I never went for the audition,” she disclosed.
Despite the opportunity, Nana Aba admitted that she never truly loved radio because her real passion was television.
“I hated radio because I always wanted to be on TV. I grew up watching Larry King Live and CNN with my dad—I never even watched cartoons,” she said.
